Film is a common text through which the concept of transformation can be explored. It is easy to see how transformation has been shown in the text. Also, the directors of films have aim to create texts that are straight forward for audiences to follow. When we view a film there are many types of techniques that have been used including camera shots, lighting and sound effects.

Camera Shots
  1. Panning - This shot moves in a continuous movement from one side to another. It is used to show movement or a landscape.
  2. Close-up - As the name suggests, this shot is used to show the face of a character. It is mainly used to show emotion.
  3. Mid-shot - A mid-shot is taken from the waist up. It is used to show body language and converstaion between characters.
  4. long-shot - A long-shot is taken from a distance and includes the whole character(s). It is used to show two or more characters, or the situation a character might be in.
  5. Angled up - This is a power shot. An angled-up shot forces the audience to look up at another character or object, to show the dominating power of that character/object.
  6. Angled down - An angled-down shot is another power shot, that gives the character or audience power as they are looking down on other characters or objects.
